TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 – COWICHAN BAY, BC

Our journey begins as we head to the eastern coast  of Southern Vancouver Island. Arrive at the awe-inspiring Malahat Skywalk offering panoramic views of the coastal rainforest. Overnight at The Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay with its bustling marina and artisanal shops.

SPOTLIGHT

View the Grizzly Bears from a series of covered and raised platforms from as close as ten metres. Witness the bears trying to catch and feed on spawning salmon.

DAY 2 – GOLD RIVER, BC

Discover the vibrant murals and quaint charm of Chemainus followed by a visit to the BC Forest Discovery Centre before heading north to Gold River. Settle into the Ridgeview Motor Inn for two nights.

SPOTLIGHT

Construction on the Nootka Lighthouse began in 1910 atop San Rafael Island just off the entrance to Friendly Cove. It measures 37 feet tall

DAY 3 – GOLD RIVER

Explore Vancouver Island’s Wild West Coast aboard the MV Uchuck III departing this morning right from Gold River. Listen to the history of the area. Once ashore, visit the Nootka Lighthouse and a converted Church Cultural Centre or relax on the beach and walk the trails! Return to Gold River early evening in time to enjoy dinner and a free night.

EXPERIENCES & HIGHLIGHTS

The friendly crew, galley, lounge and upper deck seating make for a relaxing and fun experience aboard the MV Uchuk III while marvelling at the stunning scenery and abundance of marine animals and wildlife as you cruise along the remote northwest coast of the island.

Travel to the Orford River Valley aboard a high-speed covered vessel with stops to view whales and other wildlife before arriving into Bute Inlet for a full-day of Grizzly viewing while in Campbell River.

DAY 4 – CAMPBELL RIVER, BC

Enjoy a scenic drive through Strathcona Provincial enroute to Campbell River, nestled on the shore of Discovery Passage and our home for the next two nights. Explore the rich history of the town at the Museum at Campbell River.

DAY 5 – CAMPBELL RIVER

Embark on high-speed vessel into the heart of Orford Valley on a full-day tour. We are joined by a Certified Naturalist for over three hours on land while in beautiful Bute Inlet to witness Grizzly Bears and other wildlife.

DAY 6 – RETURN HOME

Enjoy a visit to Coombs before returning to BC’s mainland, arriving home with fond memories of coastal life and beauty late this afternoon.
