Experience the diversity of Costa Rica through a collection of unforgettable moments, including a tour of the vibrant capital city, San José. Glide through the lush canals of Tortuguero on a boat tour and explore the rainforest canopy at Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. Unwind with three nights of beachfront tranquillity at Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort, set along 1.8 miles of white sand beaches.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1 – RICHMOND, BC

This epic journey begins with a pre-night near the airport.

DAY 2 – SAN JOSE AUROLA, CR

Board a flight for San José, Costa Rica’s capital city.  Arrive late this evening with a warm welcome by the local Tour Representative before transferring to the Hotel Delta by Marriott, for a two night stay.

DAY 3 – SAN JOSE AUROLA

Today visit the largest coffee plantation in Costa Rica, and learn about the entire production process of cultivation and harvesting to processing and best practices. Next, discover the country’s oldest operating wet mill, a designated National Heritage site.  This afternoon enjoy a guided tour of San José, exploring its history and culture through key monuments, parks, and government buildings.  End the day with a group dinner at a local restaurant.

SPOTLIGHT

Tortuguero is a small village situated on a sand bar island and is only accessible by boat or airplane. Tortuguero can be translated to “Land of Turtles.”

DAY 4 – TORTUGUERO, CR

Board a private coach and drive through the exotic paradise of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Enroute, stop for a delicious Costa Rican breakfast.  Arrive at Tortuguero Village for an enchanting boat transfer through the Tortuguero canals, also known as “Little Amazon”. This afternoon, enjoy a guided visit to the remote, car-free village of Tortuguero. Stay the next two nights at Pachira Lodge with its 34 acres of exotic flora and fauna.

DAY 5 – TORTUGUERO

Embark on a guided walking tour through the resort’s trails followed by some free time before lunch. In the afternoon, visit Tortuguero National Park, exploring the canals in small, open boats to allow for better visibility. Observe local wildlife such as birds, monkeys, crocodiles and sloths. Enjoy an included dinner at the resort.

DAY 6 – LA FORTUNA, CR

Depart Tortuguero for La Fortuna, an eco-tourism destination located at the base of the active Arenal Volcano. Upon arriving at the luscious Los Lagos Hotel Spa & Resort, you’ll immediately want to experience their eight thermal mineral pools that are nourished by the nearby Arenal Volcano. Venture into the magic of the tropical rainforest trails throughout the property. Enjoy two nights at this beautiful 1,050-acre oasis.

SPOTLIGHT

The Arenal Volcano was dormant for 400 years until a massive and sudden, eruption in 1968. While it no longer spews lava regularly, it is still considered active with frequent gas emissions and rumblings.

DAY 7 – LA FORTUNA

Today visit Arsenal 1968 Park, hiking along the lava trails left by the volcano’s 1968 eruption, now covered by lush tropical vegetation. Enjoy the sweetest rainforest experience – a chocolate tour with views of the volcano.  Enjoy the night with an included dinner at Los Lagos Hotel.

DAY 8 – TAMARINDO, CR

The adventure continues with an unforgettable visit to Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. The trails and bridges allow you to get as close as possible to the colourful birds, flowers and tropical vegetation.  This afternoon, arrive at the incredible Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort.  Be dazzled by the lush tropical gardens and spacious rooms surrounding the oceanfront Lagoon Pool. Enjoy outstanding international cuisine from six different restaurants plus four glorious swimming pools.  The resort also features a shopping center and an amphitheater.  Spend the next three incredible nights at this outstanding resort.

DAY 9-10 – TAMARINDO

The next two days are free to enjoy at your leisure.  Participate in the onsite activities, explore local attractions or simply lounge by the pools at the resort or the beautiful Tamarindo Beach.   There are several optional excursions you can choose to do for an additional cost.

DAY 11 – LIBERIA, CR

Depart the jungle paradise and head inland. Enroute visit an authentic “Casona” of Guanacaste which is an historic “big house” or main manor of a traditional hacienda. Continue to Liberia, with the final night at the Hilton Garden Inn. Gather this evening for a farewell group dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 12 – RETURN HOME

Board the return flight  home this morning with memories to last a lifetime!
